MF35 Sediment Bowl

I have two MF's a 35 & a 50, both are working gas tractors. My problem is every time I remove the sediment glass bowl it is a major undertaking getting the gasket to stop leaking after I clean the bowl and put it back on the tractor. I am to the point of thinking about replacing the whole unit with a turn off valve and a regular gasoline filter. And yes I have purchased at least two new complete units and the problem still exist. Would an O ring work? Tried rubber and regular gasket material and always it is a problem. I won't even remove the bowl in the field for fear it will leak and I won't be able to get the tractor back to the barn. Any Ideas?

I bought my last cut off sediment bowel at the Ferguson dealer, seems to be of better quality,
Had them order me some extra gaskets, so far I have taken the bowel off a few times to drain out sediment particles
Each time it has reseated

But as you said it might not the next time,

I almost never have problems with them leaking but I do also use the cork/rubber gasket part #398 from O'Reilly's auto parts store and have and keep them on hand have at least 6 right now and have had them for years but not needed them as of yet.

try rubbing the rim of the bowl on some very fine sand paper to clean off and smooth the surface before re-installing. that has worked for me.
