Massey 135 Lift works backwards

Everyone,
I am new to the forum as of today. I have thoroughly read over the years but never really needed to post anything. I have a massey 135 1967 perkins diesel. No multi-power. 6X2 trans. I just bought. The lift controls work backwards. Meaning, Lift lever up should lift right? Well, it drops the lift. Lever down, raises lift. How is this possible and how can I correct this. Also the outer lever near the fender says draft, and inner lever says something else. Which lever operates the lift, inner or outer? I have only had a 4000 ford diesel (1974) and ford 2000 (1972) diesel and lever up is lift up/lever down lift down. Draft was down on the side of the case. I am baffled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The outer lever (draft control) should be fully up. The inner lever is for position control, just like your Fords. Try that and
report back.

It does have pressure control as an option on the lever. It is blowing my mind. It has constant pumping in red. Transport then in blue it moves up and down. The lift raises and lowers perfect without jumping or hesitating. Just it operates backwards to me. I will post a photo tomorrow.

Don't ever put it in constant pumping unless the system is being used with an auxiliary valve, like for loader use. The pressure control feature needs a special hitch for use on the three point arms, dad has one for his 180 we used years ago applying anhydrous ammonia. Nice feature when used correctly..

Hello,
To add to what Dieseltech has said;
Pressure Control was an option on early 100 series 135s but fitted as standard on 165 and upwards. The purpose is to transfer weight and therefore traction to the rear wheels of the tractor by in effect transfering part of the weight of the towed implement to the tractor. The chain shown in the photo of my 165 is wrapped around the drawbar of the trailer or implement and the hydraulic load set as required by rising the inner lever in the Pressure Control quadrant only. This must NOT be attempted on a tractor that does not have Pressure Control.
The system works by being able to adjust the pressure in the lift system from approx 500psi to full lift pressure. In the Position Control quadrant you will have full lift pressure throughout the lever movement.
It is also a very useful device when using what we would call a grass topper that runs on skids. If the ground is soft part of the weight can be taken by the tractor PC system to avoid surface damage. The topper will maintain that ground pressure over undulations. It is quite impressive when you set the pressure so that literally with one finger you can lift an implement and then it will fall slowly. Great for impressing your maiden aunt!!!!!

So.... I played with this tractor for most of the weekend. https://photos.yesterdaystractors.com/gallery/uptest/a35167.jpg This link shows the type of lift setup I have. One of my neighbor farmers has a 175 and he has the same type of lift and he explained how to use it. I no longer feel silly, as it does work opposite by design. Thank you everyone for the guidance and help. The pump is lifting slow and hopping. So I will check my screen and see if it is dirty, if not I will need to rebuild the pump. I have fully independent PTO so I will have to pull the top off the case anyway to access the screen and guts.
