massey 275 steering problems

am having trouble with the steering on the 275, when first crank it the steering works pretty good, but longer i use it and the hotter it gets the steering goes away. havent had it long but it has leaked fluid at the cylinder since i have had it and im afraid the po has ruined the pump by running it dry considering the pump gets real hot. the cylinder im sure can be rebuilt but not sure if the pump is rebuildable, and im not sure which parts i need since i cant find a serial number nowhere(the plate is gone and dont see one nowhere else all i can find is part numbers on different parts of the tractor). there is a plate on the trans right next to the clutch pedal that says 1867505m4h and 21 a 3 underneath that number, is there anyway to tell by that or any of the part numbers?

Some of the early 275's serial number 9A284067 to 9A287064 used a the Plessey power steering pump. The 275 with the serial numbers prior to 9A284067, and after serial number 9A287064 used the Parker-Hannifin pump. The Plessey pump has a nut holding the reservoir onto the pump, it will also have a good sized filter in the reservoir. The P-H pump uses a bolt to hold the reservoir to the pump, and has a small strainer. If you want to replace the pump, and you have the Plessey pump the parts book says to replace it with the P-H pump part number 523092M91. If you have the Plessey pump you will also need 1 gasket part number 505432M1, and 2 Elbows part number 186128M91
