Hi Everyone, Im new to the site and just bought my first tractor, a 1956 MH50. The engine was "siezed" when I got it. It ended up being a jammed up starter. the tractor sat for 7 years outside and rust accumulated on the ring gear and bound up the starter when the guy I bought it from tried to roll it over. Cleaned the ring gear, filed the points, fresh oil and gas and it purrs like a kitten. Clutch is siezed up as well from sitting. Im wondering if anyone has any ideas on freeing it up? or would i be better off splitting the beast and replacing it? I am also curious on the shift pattern for the main shifter and the shorter shifter to the right of the main. I am assuming its for hi-low range with nuetral in the middle. I am also looking for pointers on things to look for. Thanks in advance

The small shift lever is High-Low, and Neutral-Start switch position. The traction clutch "MIGHT" break free while driving the tractor while holding the clutch pedal down, and applying the brakes. I'd try in Low second or third gear. Hope it breaks free..

I agree with Dieseltech and don't give up on the clutch too quick. I had an IH with the clutch plate stuck and tried everything while driving
it around. Finally after the motor got up to operating temperature it let go.
