Simms P5101X. How much HP they can deliver when fuel screw fully out? Does it have the retard notches in plunger tops or are they flat tops? I am also going to add turbo, any thoughts on that?

P5101 came with the retard start notch plungers, just like the 1155 P5218 pump did. P5101 cam with ball cam bearings originally, but if it's been apart should have been updated to the tapered bearings, same as the 1155 pump has. I'd put on the larger 1155 540 exhaust manifolds so it can breath better. Put it on a PTO dyno, and turn the fuel screw IN on purpose to lower the HP rating. Now back it out to about 135-140. After that go out 1/2 turn at a time until you see it FALL OFF on power, that's where the start notch gets in the way. Turn the screw back in slightly and leave it there. Retard notch does two things on that pump, cuts the fuel delivery as well as retards the timing for better cold starts..

I know a diesel shop here who can fit 9.5 mm flat top plungers to this pump. What size plungers does it have originally?

And how about the governor, it is set to 2200 rpm, so if I raise the rpm to 2500 or higher, does it give full delivery all the way up or does it cut down fuel after 2200 rpm?

If I recall the stock plungers are 9MM. Simms did have a 9.5MM flat top plunger available, I did put in a set years ago. Would have to get the book out and find the part #. Raising the speed will help, but might be hard to get much more out of it. Several years ago I helped a neighbor with his puller 1155. Bosch 11MM plungers were modified to fit the Simms fuel block as we wanted to keep the stock appearing pump. Recut the governor cover ramp and skate wheel weight set to get it to 5,000 rpm, reground the anti-reversing cam for better plunger filling. He ran a huge single charger, and a two disc clutch. Most of the time he pulled hi third, lo MP with dualed 20.8 X 38s. Almost forgot, engine was reworked to 640 cubes..

Hey Dieseltech, do you think I could use the spill timing method to find the correct setting for the fuel screw? Can't get the tractor to dyno right now.
