285 Hydraulics

My 285 has a Allied loader and originally the hydraulics where run to the back valve couples with long hoses! I changed that by taping into
the PTO side Cover and adding an open center joy stick type valve on the fender. The loader is slow and week, I only half understand what
is going on and would like to improve the program. I just received the service manual to try and understand better - but it is of little
help. Basically need to know where to get hydraulic flow from to feed the new valve and how to return!

The PTO side cover has two lines that feed the tractor spool valve, the front Is pressure, the rear is return. You can use these direct to the joystick valve BUT you must disconnect the tractor spool valve. Would also work using one tractor spool valve locked in on position and feed the joystick that way. A photo of what you have now would help.

I'll try to upload a few photos! Kind of like to keep the rear hyd as I have a three point fork lift mast for the back! Thought about 3 way valves - but steel tubes and odd thread type make that hard to consider. I don't mind spending a few bucks - its a great chuck of iron for what I do - and hope one day to tear it down and make it newish!

Did separate the new spool valve and use power beyond to feed the old under the seat valves. The loader still seems slow. I have replaced the big filter in the iron pot. Next step is to verify if there are any other strainers or filters and check the system psi. Past that I imagine I may pull next to another pump source and hook up and see if my pump is worn. Thanks to all that chimed in!

get you a gauge and adapt it to fit a hyd. coupler and plug into one of the remotes and see what kind of psi you get, probly like my 275 a weak aux pump or internal leak one, i havent tore into mine yet. should be around 2300psi mine is only 1300ish
