1150 massey fuel issue

Hi, I have an 1150 don't use a lot so a year or so ago it would not start...figured it was a fuel issue...hoped fuel filters...so I put those on but I can't seem to get fuel primed...most other make tractors almost prime themself with gravity as fuel tanks are higher but on this fuel tanks are down low so gravity not much help. Looks like the lift / primer put in mounted in the middle of the V in the V8 so hard to reach...left filters a little lose and left bleeders on top of filters cracked a little...cranked on with starter several times...nothing?...thinking maybe the lift pump is bad?...looks like I gotta take the hood off to get in to that? I do not consider myself much of a mechanic so looking for thoughts if I am on the right track?

There should be a little hand lever of the lift pump. pump the fuel up with that. I may take a bit of pumping.Loosen a fitting AFTER the pump to be sure it is pumping.If you can,fill the filters with fuel before you install them.That cuts 'prime time' down sisnificantly.Sometimes you can 'pressurize' the tank and push the fuel up to the filters. Simple. wrap a rag around the blow gun.Push the rag agianst the filler and 'blow'. excess pressure will vent out between rag and filler.Or lift pump could be bad, Remove a line after pump and crank engine. you should get a good strong squirt.
 
Two more things to check, did you use NAPA/WIX filters? And if so did you make the mistake of putting an O ring in the top outer filter groove? If so it needs to come out, that's the filter inlet fuel passage. Mad lots of calls to correct that problem. If the supply pump hand lever does not feel like it's working the engine may need turned a bit. If the injection pump cam lobe is holding the internal lever at full stroke the hand lever won't work. Move the lobe away by bumping the starter, turning the engine about one turn.
