MF 175 clutch

for a 175, with the dual stage clutch. The pto has stopped engaging, i have determined it to be the pto clutch plate is coming apart. While split i want to replace the drive clutch also and any other components in that cavity.

Do you suggest buying a re-built clutch over new components? Pros and cons either way?

Thanks in advance!

What is up with your PTO? Is it just rasping when you try to select the gear?....Maybe it just needs setting? To set it you need to go up through the bottom inspection plate, there are 3 setting screws, kinda like tappets, back off the locknut and set them so you have enough clearance to let the end of a standard hacksaw blade in as a feeler gauge......(crude, I know but it works!)...Mark them with chalk as you do them until you have all three done...You will have to turn the engine over to find them all!................Sam

Yea, replace both while you got it split, go with new reputable parts, not so hard to do, I've done several by myself on concrete floor and two floor jacks. JBD

I recommend replacing the rear main seal, and input shaft seals in the transmission while you have it apart. You don't have to change the seals, but you are taking a chance of them possibly failing at a later date, and getting oil on the clutch.

Yip, use a complete new clutch...too many things in that clutch cover to wear!...look at the wear in this finger compared to the new one beside it, the pins and joining links were well worn too.....There are a lot of components in that clutch cover!......Sam

Ok, I will. Do the new clutches need much adjustment before bolting the tractor back together?
