Looking at a MF 150 tomorrow/Saturday. What to look for?

I have been looking online constantly for the last couple weeks at tractors with loaders. The MF 150 seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. I'm goin to look at one tomorrow. The dealer has told me it looks rough but everything works and is mechanically sound and it supposedly only has 1600 hours. What should I look for and test when I view this tractor? I know what to look for in the fluids. I was going to see if they could put somethin heavy in bucket and 3 pt and see if it holds. Maybe hook something to pto. What else should I look for and please explain how to do it. I'm somewhat of a newbie to tractor mechanics. Thanks.

Be sure to get the engine to operating temp, see if it starts good when engine hot,

Push something solid, see if clutch slips under full load, rear tires should spin if clutch is good

Jack up front body of tractor to determine if the front axle pivot bearing is in good shape
Pto clutch can be weak, would have to hook it to a bush hog in heavy grass see if it slips

Steering under load can be a problem,

Good luck, as beat up body might indicate maintenance was also neglected.

The gauge may only have 1600 hours it, but that could only be on the gauge the tractor probably has a lot more hours on it than that. If it has multi-power make sure it is working, with the multi-power in low range you won't have engine braking, but in high range you will have engine braking. On the sheet metal, if it looks rough, and beat up the replacement sheet metal is not cheap so that is another way to get the price lower if its mechanically sound. If it has the Perkins AD3.152 diesel engine that is a bonus as it is super efficient on fuel. The 150 is good tractor, it's really the bigger 165 model, but uses the same engines used on the smaller 135 model. If you are tall, and or have long legs the 150 is a much more comfortable tractor to operate.

had vehicle problems last evening that destroyed the start to my weekend. Thanks for the input on what to look for on the 150. On my way to retrieve my dog of a car this mornin I came across another tractor that I will start a new thread about. MF 263.I may go look at the 150 next weekend.
