MF 65 Gear Lever

Hi - My MF 65 keeps jumping out of gear and the main gear lever is generally very sloppy with a weak internal spring. I have managed to
source replacement bits and are now trying to work out the easiest way to fit - Can the existing gear lever be removed and replaced without
having to split the tractor or remove the steering box? I guess there must be a clip or pin securing the assembly from beneath?? Limited
access is available through the oil filling port next to the gear lever but poking fingers and tools through there could be tricky then there
is the risk of dropping something in? Keen to avoid a major strip down if possible, any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Mike

The only way is to remove the steering box...You might want to replace the detent springs when you are in there....there are 3 at the front of the gearbox opening, held down by yhe steering box. A horseshoe type clip holds in the gear lever along with the steel pin...renew this pin and the gear lever....Sam

Thanks for your help Sam, sounds like there is no way of avoiding a strip down, better get the spanners out...

The complete dash will lift off with the steering box...taht might save you some work?.....
