Newbie alert! Model 20 clutch and oil galley plug question

Well first off I'm new to this forum, new to this tractor. Really pretty new to ANY tractor. But I have a Massey model 20 with a 3 Cyl Perkins gas engine. I had a terrible oil leak and low oil pressure. I had read that the suspect was most likely the oil galley plug. I split the tractor and sure enough there is oil puddled in the oil galley plug hole. While I'm in there I'm going to replace the rear main and oil pan gaskets. My big question is about the clutch. (Which I may also replace). When. I took it apart I didn't put in the slave bolts. I read that part in the manual after I had already buzzed the clutch and flywheel off. So how bad did I screw up?
 
Those 3 slave bolts hold the clutch together, it also helps keep the clutch from popping off the flywheel when you remove the bolts that hold the clutch to the flywheel (did the clutch come completely apart?). When you buy a replacement clutch it come with those 3 bolts installed to hold the clutch together, and it makes the clutch installation easier. While you have the oil pan off I'd suggest looking at the main. and rod bearings. If it wore down to the copper I'd replace the bearings. Look at the oil pump also, if things don't look good in it I'd replace it. How low was the oil pressure at idle, and at operating rpms?
 
well I didn't have any problems with the clutch coming apart. in fact the small disk stayed in the secondary clutch just fine and nothing came off with any amount of force. maybe I have a bad pressure plate? after pricing the clutch disks I was planning on replacing them anyway. as for the oil pressure. after about 20 minutes of running the oil pressure was just above the red on the gauge. I only ever saw it dip into the red one time and that was at idle. I planned on popping main and rod caps to give the bearings a look as I don't know what the guy before me did with this thing as far as the lack of oil pressure. actually my plan was to plastigauge the rods and mains to verify the clearance was within spec. being as bearing aren't expensive at all I'm tempted to toss new bearings in while the engine is out. I went the extra step and didn't just separate the tractor but instead removed the front axle first then removed the engine. for me it will be MUCH easier to align the engine and transmission with the engine on a hoist as compared to trying to line it up and roll the rear of the tractor forward on a dolly... mainly because I don't have a dolly for this purpose and this makes it easier for me to get the engine on a stand and check bearing clearances. is there anything I'm missing that I should check out? as far as the clutch goes it seemed to work as it should. and nothing came apart with any sort of force. then again I left the smaller disk in and just removed that entire section from the flywheel. I didn't mess with the section for the smaller disk at all.
 
I guess I should add that I'm not at all new to wrenching. I've built a handful of v8's built, ported, modified, stroked ETC probably 100 + two stroke engines from mild to fairly wild for 4 wheelers, 3 wheelers, dirt bikes etc., and am currently fabricating my own jeep based rock crawler. I say this just so you know your not dealing with someone who doesn't know their way around a toolbox. also my father has lent a hand with this tractor and he's a retired general motors tech with around 40 years experience before he retired.
 
I've built a few interesting things like you did over the years so it sounds like you have every thing covered. Long ago the first time I removed one those clutches I didn't install those three bolts, and it didn't come flying apart either. The hat for the pressure plate had visible cracks, and some other cracks someone had brazed up! These days we don't get many new people posting that really have a lot of experience with things mechanical so your "newbe alert" threw me a little bit.
 
I will thoroughly inspect the clutch components before I order any parts. I'm sure I'll have other tractor specific questions as I go through this thank you for your help PTfarmer
