MF 175 Stabilizer pins

On a mf175, the stabilizer pin is broken. It is located in the bottom of the bracket that holds the fender to the axle housing. It is used to attach what I call the stabilizer/sway arm to the tractor.

I can see that the pin goes all the way thru the bracket.

Before I cut if off flush and weld a new one on, I wanted to check to see if anyone knows how to remove the original one from the bracket? Is it pressed in? Threaded? I don't see any retainer screws or other mechanisms that hold it in there.

Thanks!

I wish that were the case on these. I have a feeling
It must be pressed in, perhaps tapered. Just hate to
ruin the original bracket unneccessarily.

Will add a pic tomorrow

Thanks

Since someone welded it to the bracket you might not be able to knock it out depending on whoever welded it. What you can do since you can see on the one side where it goes through the bracket is to measure the diameter of the pin on the same side you marked it, and get a new pin that is closest to the diameter of the old one. If it won't come out after you grind all the weld off you can mark the pin as close the center as possible. Then take a center punch, and drill like a 1/8" - 1/4" hole in the center of it, then drill it out to the diameter of the new pin.

Thanks I will probably have to do that.

It is not currently welded, but appears pressed?

Here is a photo of each side.

You would probably have heat that bracket around the pin to get it out. You can try a big hammer, and a punch, or find someone who has a hydraulic press to press it out. It may need to be heated with a torch while using a hydraulic to press it out depending on how hard it is stuck in there.
