Did you ever get an answer to this or did you try this part? I'm wondering the same thing.

Here's the original post:

I'm having trouble getting the filter can and the bolt to stop leaking. I got the can to stop, but now I leak out the bolt. I have a Cont gas engine. I have a spring inside the can and a tiny washer looking thing. I'm using a Fram C3 filter but the thing has about come apart taking it in and out trying to get the thing to stop leaking. Also, the Fram comes with black grommets to put inside to keep it from leaking. The grommet on the bottom pokes through into the filter when I slide it over the bolt. It's quite a pain. I changed the filter once before a couple of years ago and had no issues, but this time it has been quite the pain. A spin on filter would be great.

The MF35, and MF50 with the Continental Z134 engines use all the same oil filter components that the MF65 with the Continental G176 uses. The Continental spin-on kit used on a 35 should also work on a 65 with the Continental engine.

I kept the same filter on it-other readers said it would be to easy to hit something in the woods & you wouldnt know oil was leaking till it was to late. My understanding is the spin on filters are for the diesel engines, but i could be wrong.

chances are if you hit something hard enough to damage a spin on filter you might also damage the OEM set up. mute point I think. I have had no problem with my spin on adapter. (z-134)

I put a much simplier designed spin on filter on my gas MF65. As I recall it is just a plate that screws into the original can filter base. Then the spin on filter goes on top of that, and sits at the same angle as the original can filter. Look for photos on the internet.

That is the way they make them now.

At the construction company I worked for if you damaged a filter (spin on, or canister) while operating a piece of equipment, and it caused any damage besides the filter you got to operate a shovel for awhile. It was a good incentive to pay very close attention while operating a piece of equipment.

I have a TO35 with the z134 engine,
The oil filters are a bit troublesome, but I always use wix or Napa or MF oil filters, they have good quality seals,
Clean all parts good and take my time lining up the canister as it goes back on, i lube the gaskets with oil before reassembly.

Yes from time to time I have had to loosen the canister body and readjust it slightly to insure it stayed centered, but so far after 1957-2016 it still works fine,

I have had a stick come up through the frame an
bust the crankshaft pulley, when I was in the woods,

so far I have no plans to place a cheap thin wall oil filter that low on the side of the block,

I am just to wild and in the woods, and I think it would be an unnecessary risk,
For a tractor that never sees the woods then spin on filter would be fine I guess,
Just my humble opinion!
