M-F 184-4, 3pt./hydraulic issues, AGAIN.

I posted on here a while back about my hydraulic pump. Got it working. Went to move some round bales. No luck. The lift operates with no load or just the spear on it pretty well. Tried lifting a 800-900 lb. bale. I can't hear or feel any bypassing or strain from the control levers. As an experiment, Dad tried it as well. Empty, the hitch cycled and held position just fine. I grabbed on to the spear (190-200lbs.) and no further lifting. Again unusual or valves dumping. I'm thinking the selector valve may be involved. Currently the system is overfilled in order to purge any air after a pump rebuild an difficulties in re-priming the system. It is probably something stupid. Thanks for any ideas in advance. I'll keep you all posted on it.

If you raise the lift arms with nothing hooked up to them, and shut the engine off do the lift arms drop down on their own (if so how fast, or slow).

As far as I know that tractor is really a Landini, badged as an MF......So I am not familiar with the lift, but it sounds like you have it maybe in draft control???On MF 100 series tractors the draft control lever has to be fully rased to get proper lifting on the
position control.......Just an idea for you to try?............Sam

The lift arms stay in position when not running. Even with me hanging on the bale spear. The position and draft control levers and linkages probably need some tweaking as well. I'm more of a Farmall guy. And I've met M-F people who say "You have a what?, Never heard of it..."
