MF 175 Hydraulic filter access

Working on a mf 175, and I would like to clean the hydraulic oil filter / strainer. I have read to remove the left hand plate, and also that removing the right hand plate provides access too.

The left hand plate, the one with the pto engagement lever, has several hydraulic lines going thru it, so it seems that the right hand plate 'may' be easier.

However, I have read that since this is a multi power high low transmission that I may not be able to access the filter from the right hand side.

Anyone out there that has done this from right hand plate (as seated on the tractor)? Or am I just doing some wishful thinking? Oh, and there is no triangular plate on the bottom of this one, though it is a 1969 model.

Thanks in advance!

What you have is wishful thinking. When there are left PTO cover plate lines the lift cover has to come off to get to the lines inside, same for the filter screens. Right side cover has to come off before the cover is pulled to remove the lever roller, or linkage damage will result.

TW their is one additional filter that you can change that is primary to the multi power high low transmission operation up front by the oil cooler. If you are experiencing problem with the multi power change it first.. the rest you need to pull the top cover..

(quoted from post at 18:03:27 05/18/16) The filter element for the 175 with multi-power is part number 191855M4.
es the filter is available at Massey/ Agoc dealer, have not found any after market replacement, not saying there isn't one out their, but ??

Can someone please tell me what hydraulic oil to use in a MF 175.

Also, I think I bent the linkage because I did not know to remove the lever roller when I tried to remove the top cover. How hard is it to find that linkage, or can I straighten it?
