Mf135 clutch

So I was having problems with grinding on changing gears. I adjusted the clutch as recommended in the owners manual. It certainly changes gears easier now but I'm still having problems with the live pto gears wanting to grind when engaging. Any ideas? Thanks

Using it helped my grinding problem,
After a new clutch, pto engage would grind,
I would turn off engine, with engine off, clutch down, pto would go in gear,
Start motor let clutch out, after using it hard bush hogging that first year, it got easier,

Now years later, I just idle down and it goes in with very little gear grind,

Maybe not the solution you want, but it worked for me and you can use the tractor,
Never any problems getting it out of gear,

Did you remove the inspection plate under the clutch and reset the PTO release bolts? That may be needed too if not done already. I've had best results with the clearance set to .080 inch.

Hello,
Pressing the clutch pedal fully and waiting several seconds before trying to engage the PTO may help. If the pedal is adjusted correctly the PTO should stop turning (with no load) with the pedal approximately one inch from hitting the foot plate. If it will only stop at full depression this situation is dangerous and should be rectified. To adjust the clutch unit internally you will need to remove the inspection plate under the clutch housing. Wipe around the inside ofthe face. They are usually very dirty. You will need two 1/2" AF open-ended spanners. Equally spaced around the clutch unit are 3 adjusters. You can insert a large screw-driver into the clutch unit to prevent it turning. Slacken each locknut just enough to be able to turn the adjuster. A nominal gap of 080-90" is required. Set the 3 adjusters to this. This is not an exact figure. What is important is that they are all set the same. Adjust the pedal externally if necessary and test the PTO operation. If you cannot achieve the above yoy will need to readjust but with a slightly smaller gap and check again. If you do not have a suitable feeler gauge you can grind the teeth off the end 1 1/2" or so of two hand hacksaw blades and use these. This is approximately .090".
Check for the presence of oil film on the clutch unit. If you have a leak from the rear crank seal or the input shaft this could cause a drag on the PTO plate.
