I'm restoring a model 39 MF two row planter and need some seed plates for it (just corn plates), no luck in finding any. I have noticed on ebay that the IH seed plates for the Cubs, etc look identical to the MF 39 plates but know if they are the same thickness or diameter, does anybody know if they will interchange?

meant to say that I "don't" know if the IH plates are the same size, if someone knows for sure that they will fit an MF 39 planter please post some info........

I figured some of you Ferguson guys would have had some knowledge on Ferguson planters, just passing this info along if some of you happen to acquire a set of MF 39 planters down the road, I happened to find seed plates from a company by the name of Lincoln Ag Products, the plates are $20.00 each, part number is 440314M2, seems that this is the only source in the world to get Massey Ferguson seed plates......

Where I live the older Massey Ferguson tractors are popular, but things like the older MF planters, and similar equipment not so much (or they are used up until they are not worth fixing).

There is another forum here- 'implement alley', where guys restore and use this stuff. I have an earlier Massey Harris planter, but it will be awhile before I get to it.
Back in the ol days, I imagine corn country dealers might not carry other sizes, cause there was no call for em.
I would bet these plates are interchangeable with a couple other brands- like Dorf? MM? Companies/even competition MF shared sub contractors with?

Ptfarmer, same here, when MF implements
are used up so to speak, they are not
repaired in my area either, the 39
planters are a great tool but the draw
back is the plastic seed plates, here is
a picture of mine, one is completely
stripped and the other is missing a cog.
Would love to find a shop with one of
those computerized plasma cutters and
have two new ones made out of steel...

Those plates in my opinion should have at least 8 cogs driving them. If I made them I would cut them out of Teflon which is probably more expensive, and a lot better than the plastic MF used.
