Can anyone help me with my 698 fwa front axle alignment.
I have put in a new steering rod in the cylinder (previous broke off at threads)
New steering rod ball jont. New upper and lower pivot pins and bearings o rings etc. Now I think my ram rod is too short.... have had tractor for last 8 years. So I have no idea what the original ram rod length is as it has broke a few times in the past. Twice on us and who knows about previous owner......
Now that we have put new parts into the axle it should solve the rod breaking problem... old pins and bearings were wore to dust pretty much... so my question is what is the proper length of the ram rod and how do I align everything. My operators book only covers 2wd and the i&t book has nothing about it. I purchased a manual online and all it says is 14.95 inches closed center to center distance of steering ram. full left hand lock , rod fully retracted.(category 2 axle)
I think it's center of steering balljoint to center of cylinder mounting pin. If that's Case my rod is too short.. I got no threads left.
Is the pivot housing susspposed to stop on the stopper pin against the axle housing on both sides when you turn to the left or right?
