MF240 Power steering valve

The valve on the steering column is leaking from the top.
I believe there were two valves fitted on the 240; I think mine is the earlier type for which there is a seal kit available: $15
There is also a complete valve for around $200 but I think this may be the later one...not sure if they are interchangeable.

Does anyone know if replacing the 9 seals on one of these is a diy job or will I end up with a bench covered in parts ending up not sure where anything goes back. I did rebuild the steering pump and the cylinders but the valve looks quite a bit more complicated, on the parts diagram.
Thanks

Looking more closely at the valve, I think I have the later square type valve (1671949M93), for this I can only find the whole valve and not a kit.
Does anyone know if the O ring kit 894969M92 for the earlier (135/148) round type valve (881290M95) will fit the square valve?

I'm not sure the difference, but our 240 was leaking around the valve under the steering wheel, I took the spool apart and just bought the acutal O ring at the MF dealer and put it on myself. Was an easy job and it stopped the leak.

From what I can find, sometimes replacing the seals works sometimes not. Depends if the leak is caused by metal wear. Mine looks like it's been repaired before.

So I put new seals in the valve and it has stopped leaking.
But the right hand power steering has stopped working.
i noticed that at the same time I took the valve off, the steering wheel swung round on it's own. Do I need to re-set something on the side of the steering wheel or does the valve need adjusting. If so, is this done by turning the phillips screws on the top?
I think this valve is the same as on the 135 etc so any non 240 owners may have some experience of the this valve.
Thanks

Where to adjust? (see above post).

The steering still has full mechanical connection, you will see the draw bolt going from the valve to the steering wheel, the steering wheel tells the valve when to open, if the linkage is wrong, it won't tell it to work.

With the engine running, look at the linkage while turning the wheel, you will see if it's moving, you can shorten or length the bolt sort of like a top link (nut visible towards top of your photo)

I found some instructions in the manual and it said, turn the wheel to the left removing the slack but not to turn the wheels. Then adjust the height to enable the pin to go in. So I did this and now the steering works the other way....right side power works, left not.
Do you know which way affects which side ie up or down?

Try adjusting the rod 1/4 turn back the way it was until it responds both ways, turning the wheel one way pulls the rod up, turning the other pushes it down.

You proved that the steering will work both ways, just a matter of getting the linkage just right.

I've been struggling with this valve. I dont want to think about how many times it's been off. It started leaking again, this time from the bottom. I thought it was the 2 seals between the valve and the side of the steering column so I replaced those and it still leaks. Closer inspection makes me think that the leak is coming from a small hole on the face of the valve right at the bottom. I have no idea what this hole is for but I believe the oil is pumping straight out of it.
The parts books shows a seal underneath a plate on the very bottom of the valve but the leak isnt coming from the plate.
Has anyone any idea what this hole is for and how I can stop it leaking.
