Hello,

I have a problem with my 255, the hydraulics lift fine at
A lower rpm but will not raise at high rpm. From what I've read the problem is usually right the opposite. Does anyone know what it could be? I changed the fluid today
and it still does it. I did have alot of water in the old fluid.
Any ideas?

Hello Ethan,
The first thing to check will be the strainer mounted on the rear of the Ferguson pump. This is accessed through the
triangular plate on the underside of the transmission casing. You will need to drain the oil first. You have
mentioned that you had a lot of water present. This could easily have formed sludge and restricted the strainer at
the least. Hydraulic operation can be reduced at high and low speed. It is likely that at low speed the pump will be
drawing just enough oil in to raise the linkage. However at high speed it would demand more oil quicker. If this oil
will not be drawn through the strainer failure will occur although there would normally be some sign of response.

With the plate removed (save the cork gasket if you can), you will find a clip running through the spindle. Remove
the clip and nut, washer and spring and withdraw the filter. If fouled it would be better to replace it rather than
try and wash it out.

Ok thanks, I had replaced that strainer years
ago so I think I can handle that! I'm hoping it's not the pump itself.
