hello, Newbie here hunting some help. I have a 135 Diesel that has broken 3 power steering wear blocks. I have ordered a new one from this site but id like some help on whats causing them to break.The blocks have all been cast and not steel. When these things break the steering just sticks and wont turn. Its also 500 to get it fixed. My mechanic is a factory trained Massey mechanic and he says he has no idea what causing them to break. If anyone here could offer some help I sure would appreciate it and maybe could stop this before it happens again, And Im pretty sure its gonna happen again. Thanks in advance, Jack

How is the condition of the rest of the steering box, worn bushings, bearings, sector shafts. If the steering box has slop in it from normal wear it really can't be adjusted properly. Has the steering box itself been rebuilt, one new part with a bunch of old, worn parts the new part usually doesn't last very long.

Has the steering pump pressure relief valve setting been checked, if pressure is too high that will break parts too. Saw a 35 with the whole top of the steering gearbox that looked like a bomb went of inside once, relief valve was stuck shut on that one..
One more question if you have time. I can buy a new manual gear assembly for 500.00 You think Ill be able to turn the thing if I switched from power to manual?Ive never drove one with manual steering so I don't know how hard it would be to operate. All this tractor is used for is pulling a 6 Ft. Woods grooming mower over about 5 acres. TIA

When you are moving its not too bad, but when you have to stop to turn its a bit harder. If the mower is somewhat heavy, and it's on the 3 point if you lift some it makes turning when stopped easier.
