Oil pan removal on Z134 MF 165

Does the frame need support? I'm used to working on cars where the pan only supports the oil but I can't decide on this tractor if it's a structural part of the frame. Found something is slightly blocking oil at the drain plug that is too large to fit through the hole. tractor seems to run fine otherwise.

Does the item in the pan move around ? It could be a magnet. If the item in the pan is a magnet or does not move around I think I would just leave it in there. But to answer your question I would at least support the transmission before dropping the pan

I like to support the tractor underneath the bell housing (you don't need to raise the tractor very much if at all). On the Continental four bolts should hold the front axle support to the block with two more bolts on the bottom going to the oil pan. After you support the tractor loosen the six front support bolts about an 1/8" or so, put a couple of shims between the block, and front support (1/8" - 3/16" should be enough), and tighten the four bolts that go to the block so it holds the front end support (keep the tractor supported at the bell housing). Then remove the two bolts that go to the oil pan, then you should be able to un-bolt, and carefully remove the oil pan. The oil pan has a lot of bolts holding it on so make sure you remove them all, and use a floor jack to support the oil pan because its not light.

No support is needed if it's done this way, after the two lower front horizontal pan bolts are removed just take loose the front horizontal block bolts one turn each and stop. This will open a gap at the front enough for the pan to drop down. That's how I've done them for years per the MF training classes years ago.

I can push it out of the way but it rolls back in front of the drain hole. I don't know if it is a magnet or not but has a lot of sludge around it.

I just remembered I do have a loader on the tractor so could I use that to support the front axle with a jack under the bell housing?

You trust those Continental blocks a lot more that I do.
