MF 40B Instant reverse

Buying a MF 40B non running, with instant reverse I believe, (no clutch 2 pedals on the right linked to throttle/trans) Wondering if this can be towed with this transmission without damaging it? It has 2 gear levers, I assume 3 or 4 speed and hi/low? Does anyone know about these trannys? Thanks, any advice.

I have a similar 30E with Instant Reverse. When you start the unit, you must depress both pedals together at least 1" down, I
believe this gives you a neutral position. On the transmission, the left lever is High/Low range and the right hand lever is
1st/2nd gear. You have 4 forward speeds and 4 reverse speeds. As far as towing, maybe someone out there has more experience and
will chime in!

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you have the same trans. Is yours in nuetral with either shift lever in center position?

Thanks will be bringing it home this weekend. May have more questions down the road on getting this tractor back in operation.

I just bought the same M40 B with loader and backhoe. Would like to keep in touch as apparently these industrial tractors are a rare breed. I got mine to start by putting in neutral and depressing both brake pedals..

Mine runs great and transmission seems to work well. I have leaking cylinders to repair before I can give it a real workout.

(reply to post at 21:15:54 02/03/16)Got my 40B running just fine and fixed a couple of leaking loader cylinders. Still need to work on the trans, wants to drift backwards and grinds to get in gear also stalls out when trying to drive in high gear up any grade.Torque converter? Anyone have any advice?
