MF 205 reverse-o-matic

What is the proper oil for the reverse-o-matic?
Also does the reverse-o-matic share the fluid with the rear end and transmission?

Never worked on a r-o-m but I would think it does, parts book doesn't show a different oil for r-o-m equipped tractors. The hydraulic oil MF Spec. M-1110.

On my forklift the transmission takes ATF Dexron. The rear end is separate, think it has 80/90, but ATF there would be OK too since the MF 85 and S90 used ATF in the whole system.

I was asking because a couple years ago we rebuilt the motor and while we had it split we replaced the seal between the toque converter and the R-O-M and there was a lot of tractor fluid that came out so if they are separate the isolation seal must be bad. I have always used tractor fluid in it and slams into gear no matter how slow the engine is turning. Maybe I should drain all the oil out and replace it with ATF. What do you think Deiseltech? Would that solve the harsh engagement?

According to Big Dean, 95% of the time, that slamming is cause by sloppy bushings in the control linkage. Pretty sure it needs a split to cure, since there are a few inside the bell housing behind the torque converter, not to mention the one that goes through the housing. At least that's why ours hasn't been done yet.
