230 gas fuel mystery

I think my 230 suffers vapor lock. I have all kinds of flow. When it gagged the other day, I checked all the flows and they are fine. Tractor was hot and when I disconnected the fuel line ahead of the carburetor, I noticed the fuel in the line was bubbling/foaming. The fuel line runs under the oil filter and back up to the carburetor, makes like a P trap. In the field, when it starts to gag a pull on the choke for about the count of 4 gets it back up to speed, push the choke back in and you're good to go for another little while. It's as if the fuel is boiling in the line causing a problem. Thoughts?

You have the old Continental gasser, what I did on my 2135 with the same engine was run the fuel line around the back of the block, and kept it between the engine block, and the tube that goes from the air cleaner to the carburetor. Once its close the carb I made the line cross over the tube going to the air cleaner, and into the carburetor inlet. I've never had no problem with vapor locking. I don't see the need for all that fuel line like your 230 has, the longer the fuel line the more chance for vapor lock in my opinion. Since I'm here in Texas I put a 160 degree thermostat in it, on a 90 + degree day the water temp is around 170 degrees (also a good clean radiator, and four blade fan).
