Doing a little TLC to my trusty MF50 diesel and have a few questions - hopefully someone can help.
Was at a tractor repair place discussing some options for my tractor - a split to fix a leaky tranny seal and the question came up, multipower or
standard 6 speed. They had a 165 in the shop, which had the multipower tranny via welding two gears (don't know how this is fully done - but
clearly remember Big Dean talking about it). He showed me where the multipower dash lever was and a hole in the top of the tranny where the
linkage went vertically down into it. He also mentioned oil lines to the tranny? I told him on my MF50 - going from memory, aside from the slot
in the dash for the multipower tranny linkage and the model number tag indicating it was a multipower tractor, I didn't recall any visual evidence
the tranny had any left over linkages sticking out of the tranny, oil lines anywhere or holes on top of the tranny. He said it is possible the tranny
was swapped out to a standard 6 speed.
Going out to look again later today - question is, on a MF50, what are the tale tale signs I should see if it was multipower? Anyone have a pic
or two they could share?
Starter....
Need to replace the starter and am going to order one from this YT site. My starter is Delco Remy and has stamped on it - as best I can read:
110751 2 B 87 - kind of spaced like I show it.
When I do a part number search on the starters for MF and this starter, I find a starter, but it doesn't show it's listed for an MF50.
Is it possible the engine on my tractor came from another MF? Without a doubt, it is a 3 cylinder Perkins diesel and is indirect injection (straight
injectors).
Given the tranny, if it has been swapped the starter mystery - wondering if my tractor is a hodgepodge of other tractor parts to make a running
MF50.
Visually, nothing out of place - has been a GREAT tractor, just curious.
Any clarity provided is much appreciated.
