My Massey 180 is stuck in 1st gear and shift lever is in neutral. Now I have tried the pry the gear trick and couldn't get it to work. Could anyone go into more detail on how that works? Looked around and couldn't find any real info on this so im hoping you all can help me.

I'm not sure the prying through the filler hole will work on a 180. Its in a different place than other Masseys. I'd check my linkages under the dash. Probably easier through the right hand side panel. There's three rods in there connected to the shift cover. I had one of those linkages break on mine.

Check the shift linkage under the dash, put the Hi-Lo in neutral to remove any gear tension. I think the clevice that is higher needs to go down to get the 1st gear back in neutral. Don't remember for sure but think the four bolt right side cover plate is what you want to remove for shift bellcrank access. Worst case is you have a broken internal shift fork..

My 285 occasionaly sticks in gear. I remove the filler cap and line the horizontal linkage pieces up...don't know the proper termimology. It's not like fixing a TO35 that's stuck in gear. Suggest you remove the filler cap and look before you start taking things apart. I'm definitely NO mechanic but was able to fighre my 285 out.
