Your thoughts on pricing my MF 65

I just made the decision to part with my 65. Since I quit farming, I'm only using it to mow along the road, plow my garden and plow snow.

It's going to need some work. A new rear rim for sure. Steering is very sloppy so I know the steering box needs rebuilt. None of the gauges work, and in general it needs painted.

It's got less than 500 hours on a full engine rebuild, it has remotes that will work, been converted to 12 volt, new carb., and new sediment bowl and shut off.

All 4 tires are less than 4 years old, no weather cracks and like new tread.

Am I out of line asking for $2,000.00?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Ron

If you want $2000 for it its better to ask $4000 for it. If you put it up for sale for $2000 people are going to offer you $500 - $1000 for it. For a gasser that has only 500 hours on a re-built engine, 12 volt conversion, like new tires, but needs some work I'd say $2000 - $2500.

$2000 is a good price. I disagree on pricing it at $4000, a lot of people will not even bother calling on the add since it is out of their budget. Not all buyers make 1/2 price offers. When I have something for sale anybody who makes a 1/2 price offer gets shown the door or I put a block on them so they can't buy on my e-commerce store.

Take a trip to the big box stores and look at what 2K buys you for a lawn mower. That big box mower will be in the dumpster in five years, your tractor will still be running as long as there are people like me to supply parts for it.

Crazy, that's actually part of my decision to sell it. I know the steering box needs rebuilt and there are no longer any agco dealers near me. I sold everything else to starting small farmers when I quit farming, and finally decided it was time to either sell the 65 or put money into it.

I'm willing to take a break even price to help someone start or grow, but won't take a beating. It'll go back in the shed first.

I have a 65 diesel with a loader up for $4000. I know that's high especially with all the work it needs but I have been surprised at the amount of interest. Lots of
guys want to trade for trucks, boats or whatever they have that they don't want. I Personally would probably start at $3000 and if I get no interest go down $500 or so.

Ron,
Sound like you know what you're doing and you're a fair seller. In my world if somebody is asking more than what I think something is worth, I will not make a phone call on the ad. I'm not the type of buyer who prices my stuff high so that I can take an super low offer.

Good luck on the sale. I have a MF 65 in the yard that will be used for parts let your buyer know.

Neighbor gave one away to another nieghbor with a loader on it for free.!She didnt think it was in very good shape. lol I remember when her husband my neighbor had it overhauled.

(quoted from post at 05:06:24 04/11/16) I am sure if you check that is not a 12 volt conversion. They left the factory as a 12 volt.

Richard you are correct. I should have said it has been converted to an alternator.
