MF 165 Dsl stuck in Gear

Hello, I need some help. I was using the tractor, stopped to check a broken bolt on the disc. When I stopped I shifted both shifters in neutral, got off and check the broken piece. Got back on the tractor and shifted the hi-lo shifter down and when to shift the taller shifter but it only goes side to side, but its stuck in 2nd. How can I get it unstuck / out of gear??? What can I do to get the shifter to work again??? Any ideas of why or how this happened. Please any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I read the comments, but what am I suppose to push / pry on to re-align???? I can see the shifter lever it moves side to side, but will not move into any gears. What do I need to push / pry on??? what else can I do to help release the pressure on the gears / trans???? Thanks Charlie

The shift fork/rail. Get it back to neutral. I use a long stout screwdriver or other suitable pry bar.

take the hydraulic fill plug out that is beside the shifter.get a long screww driver or pry bar and just start moving sliding things around eventually you will get it.thats how i learned to do it.it takes patients and a little time and you will figure it out.

Thank You to everyone who replied to my post. I will try to work on the tractor tomorrow after work. I will let you know how everything works out. Thank you again!!!! Charlie

"When I stopped I shifted both shifters in neutral" I am intrigued to know why you bothered to put the high/low shifter in neutral too? You only really need to do that when you start the engine.
