I have been looking around for a loader tractor in the recent months. I am not looking at spending too much on one as it probably wont get a whole lot of use each year (less then 100 hours).

I am not looking for a 4 wheel drive in particular, but it would be nice. There is a MF 154-4 coming up for auction. I don't know a lot about these tractors outside that they were made by Landini. I do not see much on the forums about them either. Has anyone here had any experience with these tractors? Has anyone seen any sold recently, and about what did it go for? Anything in particular to watch out for on these?

I've been around the newer Landinis that share linage with the 154-4 etc and they are a simple, basic tractor.

If it's cheap and in good shape, might be worth a go if you have good MF or Landini support.

I have a 274-4 MF, it is also 4X4. It is a bit newer and a bit bigger, it is a good loader tractor as long as you ballast the rear as it is very light in the rear. I have 16.9-30 tires loaded with a concrete counterweight on the 3 point to hold it down, seems to work good. It is a simple tractor (like something from the 50's)that is why I bought it (simple like me so I could fix it) but it has been pretty much trouble free. It is good on fuel usage, uses no oil, starts great and mine has an external pump for the loader which is faster and would almost lift a house.

i am a massey dealer technician, 30 years in the shop. don't get 154 if you want a loader as there isn't a loader that fits this model. good tractor made by landini and has perkins AD-152 engine. excellent motor.
