35 Hydraulic pump

This is my first post, so hi to you all from Western Australia.
I have recently bought a 1957 FE35 in good condition. Originally gold & grey but repainted red & grey at sometime during its 59 year life.

I have been giving it a service changing fluids / filters etc using a purchased owners manual and online tutorials and got round to doing the hydraulic oil filter. I drained the hydraulic oil and took off the side panel to allow access to remove the filter only to find no filter in place. I have removed the top cover to get better access and see if I had missed the filter but it definitely isn't there. I am wondering if a previous owner removed it and didn't replace it although I can't see where the filter would locate on the pump if it was there. Did all 35s have a hydraulic oil filter? The part number on the pump is 181995 M1. Any help or info would be appreciated.

Regards

Andy

Early models had no filter. My 1955 does not have a filter. I think it was only in the early 1960's that they became
standard although I may be wrong about that.

I'll stop looking then :D. Thanks for the replies guys.

What's the best way to clean out all the gunk that has accumulated or is it best not to disturb it?

Hi, I would agree with that. In the UK I believe that the filter was fitted at the same time as the introduction of the 3-cyl engine in late 1959.

Many suggestions on that one,
Here is my thought on oil hyd/trans/gearbox oil change,

If the lift system is working fine, then get the old tractor out work it as hard as possible, plow up a truck patch or Sum such,

Take it straight to the barn an drain the oil while it is as warm or hot as possible, will take hours to let it run out,

Leave that sticky crud which is not hurting anything alone, if you put sometype strong cleaner into the sump that loosens up this sticky crud and
then do not get it all out, guess where it's going to end up,

In your valve body, hyd pump, etc, now you have big problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, JMHO just my humble opinion

Let us know how it works out

Note to file: if the oil had been changed ever couple of years as was planned by the manufacturer the crud would never have been allowed to
buildup.
