MF 10 peerless differential noise

The differential is very noisy in all gears but no clicks as a broken gear would indicate or no grinding noises..My guess is a bad bearing or bearings but have disassembled it twice and replaced a couple that looked a bit worn as it is hard to tell if a needle bearing is worn..So I am going to take it apart one more time and see if I can with the help of you guys or gals can figure out what I need to do..Just can not give up on this real tractor..

It is manuel shift and gears look excellent when I had it apart but will do my best to put some pics on here if I take it apart..Actually I am being told these trannys are quite noisy so will wait for a few more answers before dismanteling it again..Thank you

Mt dad has a 1965 MF 8 (3 forward, 1 reverse peerless transaxle) it always made some noise. The straight cut gears in the transmission will always make some noise. That's why automotive transmissions have angle cut gears, they don't make the noise.

Also the mower deck uses 90* angle boxes, and there is bearings in them. Some of the drive belt pulleys have bearings in them also so you may want to look at them also.

I just can not get pics on here so here is what I found. One needle bearing on main shaft in tranny has a gap between the bearings of sbout half the size of a needle bearing.Going to replace but wondering how to check these??When I put it together last time I put a thrust washer on the end of thedifferential shaft not realizing that shaft hasone only on one end..The casings would not go completely togetheruntil I realized I had one to many washers in it and after removing one it went to gether fie..I now wonder since I am using silicone sealant for gasket if the gasket thickness would make a difference..Other than that it looks perfect inside...Thank You
