Picked up 202 FEL...need some advice

New to this site, and it seems there is alot of knowledge here. I just picked up a 1960 202 with loader. I have a few questions...

#1 where would i find the serial number?
#2 I would like to add rear remote hydraulics but do not want to use the 3pt hydraulic system. I would like to run a log splitter and eventually find a small backhoe for this tractor. Can i tee off the front mounted pump for the FEL?

Sure is nice looking, the serial number is either on the dash to the left of the steering wheel, or behind the dash below the battery tray.

And you can tap into the front pump for remotes, and a backhoe.

I'm with PT on the serial # plate possible locations- but it could have been removed for the paint job, or painted over? Stamped and embossed, so if it's there, you should be able to see the numbers and letters. Really, I seen plates on the left or right of the tin under the battery. Always on tin tho.
And like PT said, the front pump and a diverter would be a better pump for a hoe, rather than if tapped into the tractor's internal pump, it makes heat and dirt problems that are hard and expensive to cure.
Boy that looks good....

Murph76,
That is a nice looking loader tractor. I would love to have something like that!!!! If you get tired of it bring it down to Virginia!!! LOL

If you do decide to run a backhoe build a frame that mounts under/to the tractor so the 3PH doesn't take the stress of the weight and movement of the backhoe. A 3PH hitch backhoe are hard on the back end of a tractor, all the stress and weight is on the lift arms and top link. You can get a small auxiliary hydraulic pump that runs off the rear PTO for the backhoe.

Good luck and have fun!!

Thanks everyone. I will take a closer look for the serial number.
Should i just tee right out of the pump at the front, or down line somewhere convenient to mount a valve

In original form, those loaders had a valve which could be added. I'm guessing it came with the backhoe when purchased. There is a backhoe designed for these, a model 220 which was built by Davis, same as the loader. Later they were called MF as I believe MF bought them out. It has beams that bolt up under the loader frame and a "semi" quick disconnect. I say semi because you can get the backhoe off in probably 10 minutes with practice but the beams which are added must be removed before you can effectively use the 3 point.

This message is for Inno. I noticed you have quite a few posts about Massey Fergusons and you seem to be very knowledgeable. I was wondering if you would help me out with a problem on a MF200 loader. I have a cracked loader control valve that i need to replace on this loader. I cannot find an original equipment replacement.I have been told a after market valve can be retro fitted to work. I have been looking around on the net and cannot decide which valve is best. Would you make a recommendation on this and if you have any suggestions on doing this or a picture of one that has been converted, I would relly appreciate the help. Thanks Chuck S
