Hard to engage forward when trans getting hot on MF30 Ind

Hello, Members!
I have MF 30 industrial tractor for almost last 20 years and been very good work horse.

Since several years, when tractor is cool I can press the pedal either forward or reverse (it has an instant reverse transmission) and tractor will engage quickly and powerfully in both directions.

However, when tractor getting hot (Transmission fluid temperature gauge showing about 180 degree or more) the trans will gradually take longer and longer to engage to go forward when pressing on the pedal.
But backward is perfectly fine even transmission hot.
If someone has same experience and fixed the problem, please share the experience. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Once moving forward, does it hold strong or does it slip when up against a load? We have one too, but have never had any trouble with it --- other than a worn/sloppy linkage. At it's worst, you might need a
rebuild of the forward clutch, but ... ?! Is the oil level OK and have you ever changed the filter? Be patient, there are some very knowledgeable fellows that may chime in yet. MK

Thank you for your reply.
It is strong once moving forward and no problem.
The fluid level is good.
Are you talking about filter which is bottom of inside transmission case? It is very good point that I never cleaned or replaced.
Thank you again

Our MF 40 has the filter up under the hood left side of the dash (sitting in seat) in the line heading to or from the front oil cooler. Without checking repair/parts manual at the shop, can't say whether there is a filter
inside trans case or not. Do you have a 3pt hitch and PTO on yours? Pretty sure pump for a 3pt would be inside trans case as it is with a 135. It would have a small filter on it, but that would have nothing to do
with your problem. The best thing you could do, other than taking it to repair shop is get yourself the factory repair manual. It has diagnostic procedures in it for that trans. Could possibly be as simple as some
crud in the valve that engagess the forward clutch pack, but you'd have to be able to check the pressures at the test ports for starters. The manual has all this in it. MK

That filter you meant has been replaced couple years ago at the time replacing transmission fluid.
My tractor 3point hitch is no problem.
I really like to know what cause of problem before buying service manual and can be fix it myself.
Thank you again

Hi, MK!
The filter and fluid is clean. I don't see any dirty.
Any possible to explain briefly how to do diagnostic procedure and check the pressures at the test ports for starters.
Once understanding, will order service manual.
Thank you for helping.

I bought the service manual couple month ago. Finally I figure out what the problem.
First, I removed bottom of transmission sump and cleaned.
There was so much sludge in the sump and it cause of restricting the fluid circulation. That is why fluid temperature going up so rapidly and malfunctioning the clutch.

And check the valve regulator. It was acceptable range of PSI.
I am so glad the tractor is normal operating condition,
If some has same problem, the check the sump and filter clean.
It will be first step to solve clutch problem.
Thank so much to people who input comment.
