MF 265 Injection Pump To Filter line- removal.

Hello all,

I have an MF 265 PRIOR TO SN 9A349239 (70s) that has a leak on one of the Injection Pump To Filter lines. It is the one that connects to the Injection Pump closest to the timing cover. I would like to replace the olive, but when I try removing the line, the olive has hardened so much it will not separate. I have pulled, pried and heated it with a heat gun to no avail. I can remove the line from the pump by removing the drain connection fitting on the pump itself with the line loose, but even with that I still cannot separate it. I was thinking about removing the entire line to get to it better, but that looks easier said than done. The line crosses over to the other side of the tractor and connects to the filter. There a 2 or three other lines that pass through there so its a bit crowded as the lines pass through. I will give it a try to see if I can worm it through there, but would like a bit of confidence it can be done, rather than to fail and have to reconnect it making the leak worse.

Thanks,
Axtell

They can be a real pain when taking a line out, if you can wiggle the line a little while you pull on it may help. Soaking the rubber olive with WD40 should soften it.

Those line sleeves can be a real b@#$%^th to remove, I've had luck sliding the nut up and using a small pick to break them apart. Might also use a 5/8 angle wrench to remove the pump return fitting, bend the line away and torch it apart AFTER removing the other end first and blow the fuel out of the line.

I'll give it another whirl. I've had good luck with the heat gun, but like you said this one is a "real b@#$%^th" I can't quite get the nut high enough for a pick as the line has flattened out a bit from previous attempts. I've tried the WD40, but did not give it enough time to soak. Will try that again and/or burn the sucker out.

Thanks guys!
