Massey TO 35 oil bath air filter media.

Can someone recommend replacement air filter media for a Massey Ferguson TO 35?. The oil bath filter currently has a foam type of media which the local Ferguson dealer does not carry. They stated that they recommend using steel wool as a media. This sounds like the opportunity to create rust.

The wire mesh didn't rust the first 80 years it was used in almost all tractors. Air being sucked thru the oil, sprays a mist of oil on the wire. The oil soaked wire catches dirt

(quoted from post at 21:00:24 02/18/16) I bought dish pan scrubbing material at a flea market. so far so good.

That is what is used here a lot when the replacement mesh isn't available .
Coarse stainless steel pot scourer is available from the supermarket . Make sure it is a type with no impregnated soap . It looks like a ball of metal swarf from a drill press , works brilliantly .

For sale on this site's store. Steel mesh. MF parts- 35- fuel and intake systems. Near the bottom of the page. $9.90.
A Foam filter in an oil bath? Don't sound like it would have lasted 6 hours...

Steel wool will not rust because when you run engine it pulls the oil to top of housing. After killing
engine the oil runs down and lets dusk-dirt settle in bottom. But I would rather have the right material.

(quoted from post at 10:49:01 02/18/16) What a deal. My link to replacement wire mesh is not allowed.

YT also sells parts, so they don't allow links to other sites that sells parts.

TO35 air filter tower, not totally unrelated,
If your air filter material is still good, but you have never cleaned it,

I soaked my air filter tower in kerosene for 6 hours in a 5 gallon bucket, then ran clean kerosene through it until the kersone ran out clean,
Then let the filter tower drip dry for 6 hrs,

You would not believe how much caked up dirt was inside that filter tower,

If you have never cleaned the air filter tower on your tractor, you might consider doing this
