New Massey Ferguson 202 owner

Hi, m new to the forum and new to tractors. That said, I just purchased a MF202 tractor with a front loader and pto. I have been looking at the site and serial numbers. Mine is, JGM 306508.
Any way to tell what year it is and any other information? It runs like new and everything is operational..........well, one leaking curl cylinder for the bucket.

Thank you, Bob

Thank you and after looking around even more it dawned on me that I was using the engine serial # Ill see if I can post some pics later, Thanks again. Oh, I need a box rake............

You are reading the correct tag. Like Jim said, 1961.
I own JGF 300237, from 1958.
J=industrial chassis, G=gasoline, M= 2 stage clutch.
The other tag, on the engine, is from Continental Motors, block serial#, valve clearances etc.
Now go look for some user and repair manuals, you will be fine.

The first part of clutch pedal movement disengages the transmission to stop tractor movement while the PTO keeps turning (if it is engaged). Pushing the clutch pedal further through the second stage,
disengages the PTO shaft drive to stop it from rotating, so that you can engage or disengage the PTO shaft, or momentarily stop the PTO's rotation.

Well that makes perfect sense thank you. Before I bought it the previous owner installed new brakes and seals, Had the head rebuilt with new valves, springs and head surfaced. Also a new distributor. It starts right up and everything seems to work flawlessly and smooth. I payed $2500

Is there anything I need to pay particular attention to? I need to repack the left curl cylinder as its leaking.

I am currently looking for two things, a box rake? and wheel weights for the rear wheels. The tractor has a 55 gallon drum at the 3 point hitch that has to be lifted for counterweight using the front loader.

Hope all these questions aren't a bother.

For $2500.00 you stole it at that price (wish I could find a running tractor with a FEL for $2500.00). I think what you are looking for is a box blade, depending on what box blade you get (the heavier the better) because the 3 point doesn't have down pressure the heavier box blade will help if you use it on hard, packed ground. You can also add some weight to the box blade rather than using wheel weights.

Same tractor with front end loader and no restoration or mechanical work would cost close to seven thousand dollars in Australia . Truly a bargain !

It's pretty much the same here in Texas. If you look hard enough, and can wait you can occasionally find a decent used FEL itself around $2000.00

I gave $5000 for a 202 with loader and backhoe. It needed a LOT of work. It was running and somewhat functional when I bought it but I've put a lot into it since then.

WOW! Ya'll make me feel real good. I've got a MF 203 TLB w/Perkins ad3-152 that was given to me. Had to do an inframe engine job, got maybe a $1000 in it. Don't get me wrong it's worn pretty well, but it does all that I want it to do.
