Auxilary hyd pump

Anyone ever added an auxiliary hydraulic pump in the trans of a ferguson? I bought a nice 230 today and had the thought about adding a multi power pump to run external hydraulics.

Hi, I would agree with PT, it looks like it could be done but there are several types of pump. These depend on the
number of pumping elements. If you are only looking to power something like a front end loader this could be done and
with the appropriate valve you could combine the two flows. However when an aux pump is used the maximum pressure that
can be achieved is normally 2000psi as opposed to the Ferguson pump's 2350 to 2500 psi. The lowest pressure valve will
always blow first. You will probably gain speed but won't be able to lift as much. You will require a plated drive
assembly which fits on the front of the Ferguson pump and drives the aux pump which is mounted above. You will also
require the necessary pipework between the pumps and that required to take the flow out of the centre casing. You will
also need a new LH side cover for the bulkhead fittings. Is it worth it?

I used to have a mf35 had an auxiliary valve hooked up through the top cover, a little slow but got the job done so I will probably fix this one that way. I just had the thought but without a donor I am sure that the cost would be prohibitive. Thanks for the thoughts. I have missed the 35 ever since it left!

If you have a front end loader you can mount one that runs off the front of the engine that puts out 15 gpm, or so. Another option is a pump run off the pto (but if you need the pto for something else the pto pump can be a pain). The hydraulic pump in the tractor for the 3 point is only good for around 4.5 gpm.

Thanks for the thoughts guys! It would be good to have the ability to use the lift arms and the auxiliary outlets at the same time. I am sure that this would involve a split to install all of the
pertinent plumbing and pump and gears. just not sure that I want to do that.

Here are a couple pictures of the Cessna two stage pump for the MF. Two pumps in one unit. One pump runs the MP and IPTO. The other runs external hydraulics thru the plate on the left side of tractor.

I bought this unit years ago and never used it. It has the 21 spline main pump, and mine is the 10 spline pump. I guess it is for a newer 100 series tractors. My 150 is a 1967 unit.

I have wondered if it is possible to add a pump onto a Super 90 diesel. It has a block off plate on the timing cover that may have been provided for some type of pto.
