MH Pony Freeze Plugs

Hello,
One of the freeze plugs on the side of my Pony's N62 Continental engine block is leaking antifreeze. I went to NAPA and picked up some new plugs. How's the best way to remove the old plugs and install the new ones?
Thanks.

You can drive a screwdriver or chisel into it and pry out. If it goes inside no
problem but I always try to get it out. Put #2 permatex around edges and drive in with socket that fits
inside plug.

If its rusted badly then you will be able to drive a screwdriver or punch into it as suggested and lever it out. Be
careful how far your punch goes in when you hit it just incase the bore wall is close on the other side. Thoroughly
clean the block seat and use a suitable sealer. The correct plug should require a gentle tap to seat it. Using a punch
or bar of 1/2" to 5/8" in diameter with a flat end hit the plug in the centre just enough to dent it slightly. This
should be enough to tighten it satisfactorily.

One of my best memories of working with dad! We were under a car that had a bad soft plug about 1-1/2" from the fire wall. We were both
looking at it and shaking our heads. I said, " if we get it out, how are we getting a new one back in?" He says, " I can get one in there,
but how do you get the old plug out?" I told him I could get the old plug out easy, he says, "well go ahead smart guy!" So I said hand me
that crowbar. He had a bar with a point on the end. I set it in the edge of theplug, gave it a tap to seat it and pried the old plug out
with ease. I said, "ok smart guy, your turn!" He took his 2 pound hammer and a piece of hardwood and tapped that plug back in. took about
10 minutes.
