1964 MF 65 diesel

Hello, I am a newbie here and this is my first time posting here so please bear with me.

I have a 1964 Massey Ferguson 65 with a Perkins Diesel engine that my Dad bought this past Summer. Got it for pretty cheap but I think it runs pretty good. Has a
couple of problems, the most important one being that it just blew a power steering hose. Power steering didn't work when we got it but I added some power steering
fluid to the reservoir and it started working till it blew this hose, so I am wondering if I might have over filled it or something. So my question is, how far are
you supposed to fill the power steering pump/reservoir and do the front wheels have to be centered or in a certain position while you fill it?

Also, is there a place I could buy the power steering hose from or will I have to get one custom made?

I am attempting to attach the best picture of the pump I have at this time.

Thanks in advance!

Probably cheaper to have one made up. Im not even sure nos can be found. To fill it I would lift the front up with the loader and cycle it a few times back and forth to work the air out of it. If you're losing oil and have no visible leaks I'd keep an eye on the engine oil. They can leak into the oil pan. The PS on a 65 can be the biggest PITA, I own six of them.

Thank you for your help!

Only leaks I know of is the radiator needs replaced so leaks water all over the place and leaks diesel from the injector pump and at the manual pump, but have just been running it as is for now. I really am not a diesel fan when they need fuel related work.

From AGCO online parts book for the 65 Massey , book 690237, page 198 for the power steering pump and lines for diesel.. # 190552M1 2 "O" Ring, Pressure Line, # 190805M91 1 Line Assembly, Return (Hose Section 18" Long) so you may want to check with your local AGOC dealer.

If you can figure out how to look through the archives all those problems have been on here a dozen times. The injector pump problem is a ten dollar kit off ebay if you're handy. The lift pump is cheaper to replace than buy a kit. I did buy an aftermarket radiator for around two hundred bucks and am happy with it. That diesel is way ahead of a gasser.

Usually the injector pump will leak out through the top cover, and the two shafts that stick out of the top of it. The injector pump isn't really hard to re-seal if you have good mechanical skills.

Get all the leaks fixed and you will love the added power over a gas. Most radiator leaks are pin hole size and a little black pepper in cap will stop that. What condition was the hose with the PS? You could try NAPA rebuild on the hose. Leaks can cause a fire.

Just curious is your fel using the front pump or the pto pump and if its the front do you have problems with the turns in either direction?

Assuming "fel" is front end loader, it uses a pump gizmo run from the PTO by a chain. With that huge loader on the front it's some very hard steering with no power steering.

I believe it was the return hose that blew. Sprayed fluid all over the place. Has a big hole right at the fitting where it attaches to the steering cylinder. There's a place nearby that my serious mechanic friends tell me will rebuild the hose. I just work on ford N's and snowmobiles for the most part. Brought the radiator to the radiator shop and they said it's rotted out $500 to get it recored so I figured I'll live with it and get a new one for half that price sometime in the near future.

I guess I should say with no working power steering. It has it just don't work. And seeing as there's no snow needing moved or fields mowed, I've been procrastinating the fix.
