Massey 1130 parts.

Ive got the Perkins engine in my 1130 stripped meantime and am trying to get some parts like head gasket, oil pan gasket and piston rings all parts for an engine built here in the UK Perkins 6354 turbo. Ive tried several suppliers for parts and its almost like Im talking a different language. Ive given the tractor serial number along with engine number and even the Perkins number off the top of the pistons and they still seem to have difficulty matching things up with their suppliers. One company keeps telling me they need the correct engine number , this is the one adjacent to the fuel injection pump right? Im sure Ill get there eventually i just thought it would be simple getting parts for that tractor. How do you guys find parts for Perkins over your side of the world?

Hi Bill,
Have you tried Bepco at Hatrlebury in Worcestershire? Although they are a trade supplier they may be able to help through a registered trade customer. They list the 1130 with 3 different bare pistons, that's all I have checked at the moment. There are 4 and 5 ring variations and a 5-ring with a .003 oversize gudgeon pin. If you'd like to send me or post the numbers that you have I'll try and tie up the numbers to their products.

Have you tried a Genuine Agco/Massey dealer?
Log onto agcopartsbooks.com and write down all your part numbers needed......when I restored my 1130 some 10 years ago the 5 ring pistons weren't available then......if you want to list some part numbers your in need I might be able to help.......I have a few good dealers that are willing to go the extra mile for locating obsolete parts.......most won't take the time!

Hi Bill
Go to the parts page here and it lists 2 gasket sets with an engine number break for that motor I think they might be Vapormatic parts sold through A&I in North America, the last one I had for a major was in a Vap packet with A&I sticker on. Try P.V Dobson in the U.k also they are stockists of obselete Massey and Perkins parts, they should know. I got old bepco catalogs here to someplace from 15 years ago with perkins engines in. I could see whats in there later if you want me to as well.

Thanks folks for your advice so far, every bit was helpful. Just had a long conversation with the technical guy at Vapormatic today and he has been able to sort me out with head and sump/oil pan gasket, he was a real helpful guy.

Regarding piston rings then that has proven more difficult, aparently three different ring arrangments were made for the 6354 turbo these included a 3 ring piston, a 4 ring piston (usa only) and a 5 ring version. Vapormatic do a 3 ring and a 5 ring replacement set with an oversize on the 5 ring. Of course my engine having originated in a NA Massey it is fitted with the 4 ring pistons. What he suggested was that I try and compare the ring sizes from the 5 ring pistons with what is needed for the 4 ring piston, as the two oil rings on the 5 ring piston are the same it would just be a case of using 4 of the 5 ring for my actual pistons. I guess I need to do some more work to establish whether these might work. Regarding my actual tractor then engine number is 354UA7684T piston number 31354862 HRF and tractor serial number 9B 33325.

Do you have Sparex near you. There from England --This is what is available on this side of pond.

Hi Bill,
The piston number that you have given does not tie up with any Bepco numbers. However the three variations listed by Bepco are for a AT6.354. You have a UA in the engine number. 'U' is made in the United Kingdom and 'A' is built by Perkins to Massey Ferguson specification. Dobsons might be able to help. If you speak to Ryan in the parts dept you might make some progress.

Talked with some real helpful parts guys from Bepco and Sparex today so now making a little progress with rings. Looks like Vapormatic stock suitable rings aswell but dont seem to know they have them, fingers crossed all dimensions work out once I get micrometer measurements.
