MF35 Deluxe Tach and cable

Hey Guys, I have a MF35 Deluxe with a continental Z134 gas engine. I ordered a new Tach and Tach cable from this site and now can't get it to hook together. The Tach was part# S.61467 and cable # 506331M91. The cable is the right length and screws into the generator just fine, the problem is the "nut" that screws onto the tach is to big. Talked to customer service and they said I had ordered the correct parts listed for that tractor but MF would use 5-8 different parts on that model tractor and the one that would possibly fit perfectly isn't made anymore or something to that effect. My question is, have any of you ran into the same problem and how did you correct it? Was thinking if I could find a "reducer" of some sort that could make it work or will I just have to put an automotive style tach on it and hook it to the - side of the coil? Any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas appreciated. Thanks Chad

I've never seen this. Do you have generator or alternator? If it's a MF with alternator maybe you got a
cable for TO 35 with generator. Not sure they are different. Just a thought.

The cables are different for TO 35 and MF35. The MF 35 is 23 in. long with 5/8--7/8 nuts on the ends. The
TO 35 is longer with different size ends.

I was trying to avoid having to do that since it is a brand new tach that I just paid $53 for. The only oem one I found is $120 with shipping.

I seen the cable listed with the different sized ends, but I think that wouldn't be long enough, I'll go out to the garage this evening when I get home and use a tape measure and see if I can find a different way of routing to make a shorter cable work. Thanks for your replies guys, Chad

Anytime you are needing a part go to agcopartsbook.com and look at the parts book before hand. It's free to look at just click on guest user. If I remember correctly it tells several different tach and cable combinations used during the run and it goes by serial number, engine type, and wheel size.

Thanks Jason, I had talked to an AGCO dealer earlier today and he searched by serial# and was able to provide the oem part # for me to cross reference. Thanks for the heads up on the website, I'm sure that will come in handy. Chad

The part number that you've used for the tach is a Sparex Part number. If you check their web site directly it may be easy to find the cable that is supposed to go with the tach.

Thank You, already ordered a new tach and have it up and running.
