Paint colors for MF 240

Went to the MF dealer today to get paint to repaint my 1983? MF 240. I painted the tractor about 10 years ago with MF paint. Red, medium gray for the frame and motor and silver _______ for the rims. as the dealer told me.

Today at another dealer they had 2 reds and silver ______ for the body and said the silver is what was used for the body. I was only hoping to only touch up the motor and frame but with that color
it would take alot more cleanup and color change.
I don,t want to paint the motor the dark gray they now use on the new models.
Am I wrong or was there another medium gray used years ago.
Does anyone have the correct paint numbers.
Thanks Robert in Md.

PS Heading to the Pa farm show tomorrow.

According to the AGCO parts book for a MF 240.
Red enamel (MF SPEC. M-1041)
Charcoal gray (MF SPEC. M-1056)
Silver mist gray (MF SPEC. M-1037)
Dull black (MF SPEC. M-1035)

Frame and engine should be "dark gray" and a lot darker than the "silver" wheels

Tractor will look "wrong" if painted wrong colors.

Got some spray cans of AGCO Machinery Enamel right here for my 1997 MF-240-S. Charcoal Gray M-1056, Red M-1041.

The darker gray the new MF's have is just called MF gray, they should have stuck with the charcoal/flint gray metallic (the new MF gray is ugly).

Had the same question, eventually got hold of someone at Massey who knew all about historical color schemes. He told me that up until 1983 the UK built 240's had the chassis painted in Stoneleigh gray. From 1983 onwards the color changed to the darker Charcoal gray.
Stoneleigh, which I am painting my 240 with at the moment, is a mid slightly sludgey brownish grey which seems to fade from the original over time, to a blueish gray.

Now that I look at it in daylight (rather than under fluorescent), it looks blueish not brownish.

Here's my 2135 painted with Rust-Oleum smoke gray.

Yours looks more 'Battleship' gray than mine which looks quite blue next to yours. Who knew gray could be so different and such a pain the next to get right.
Anyway, the issue is, shouldn't your tractor be YELLOW

I believe Flint grey is lighter than Charcoal grey the latter being more like a graphite grey. They never used Flint grey on the 240 to my knowledge.

The gray is a pain to get right, I used the Rust-Oleum because it was cheap (the hardener cost about as much as the paint). For my 135 I may try a mix of Rust-Oleum aluminum paint (lots of flake in it) then add some black to it a little at a time to see if I can get a color close to Flint gray metallic. If that won't work right I'll go with the smoke gray.

The 2135 should have been yellow, but I just can't stand yellow! Some yahoo painted the 135 diesel I got yellow (you can see the red, and gray underneath the yellow), that's going to change very soon!

Fair enough, but if you ever decide to enter it into the Pebble Beach Concours D'elegance (tractor section), you will lose points......just sayin'.
