1969 MF135 Perkins Gas

Okay so here is my story. I purchased a 1969 MF135 Perkins Gas tractor last year that had been sitting out in the elements (weather) for 3 years. The tractor started and ran okay. It really just had a small misfire. Well it started running worse the more I used it so I went to drain the gas and it was a varnish brown color. So I looked in the gas tank and could see that there was crud breaking loose and causing the discoloration. I took the tank off and cleaned it and relined it. I also cleaned the carb. There was one jet I couldn't break loose to take out and clean so I just sprayed carb cleaner through the jet hole and it seemed to be cleared out. I put everything back together and started it up and it will only run at an idle. If I try to turn the throttle up, it will die. This is where I stand currently. My plan is to take the carb back off and do one more cleaning and if that doesn't work then I will be replacing it. Also, currently I am using a regular fuel filter but think I want to change it back to a sediment bowl but would like to get others thoughts on what is the better option. It just seems with today's ethanol fuel it would make sense to use a sediment bowl to catch any water that the ethanol gas extracts.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what else to look for taking into consideration the issue at hand?

My plans for this tractor outside of the current running issue are:

New wires, plugs, points and cap
Replace the transmission fluid (already did)
Change oil (already did)
Change antifreeze
 
If you take the carb off I think I would put it in a container of carb cleaner for a couple of days. Blow it out real good. It might get rid of those small bits of crud in the small passages.
 
I have a 74 MF135 that does about the same thing. It runs great up to 1500 RPM but above there it misses and backfires. I've been thru the carb. and tuned it up. Starts good and runs good at low RPM. Would like some ideas also. Thanks
 
There is a 90 degree angle fitting on the carburetor that the fuel line goes to, take that 90 degree fitting out of the carburetor. There is a small screen on the end of it that gets plugged up with junk.
