MF 253 fuel filter

Can anyone advise if it would be possible for me to change out the fuel filter system on my 1995 Massey Ferguson 253 tractor?

I would like to change to something a little easier to change. Every time I attempt the current one, I get air in the system and wind up taking it to the repair shop.

Please advise?

If it's the CAV 7111-296 or 796 filter there are things to watch for. The large base groove O ring is a bit larger than the O ring for the filter bottom. Be careful that the O ring is not twisted in the groove. If you are using NAPA/WIX filters the filter fuel flow is different, the groove just inside the top outer edge is the inlet, DO NOT place an O ring in it! I don't know how many times I've made service calls to correct this mistake. The center bolt has to be snug too for the seals to keep from leaking. I would not change the assembly, but just know what to watch for.

I have to bleed air every time I change the double cartridges on the 240 with 152 perkins, it's not that bad of a process, just takes time. Far cheaper than paying someone to do it.

I replaced the fuel filter on my 135 with this spin on (so much better).
