How to turn the pump back down on a A4 236 perkins.Had a guy turn it several years ago, needed more power. Now don't need as much. Also if you pull it hard it will heat up some.Don't get hot but close to it.I'd like to turn the fuel down on it.

Any chance you can get the same guy to do it? If a mistake is made and the pump gets trashed it gets expensive. There are two bolts to take loose before the fuel adjustment plate can be moved, and if the bolts are not tightened correctly the plungers will stick, or worse come out and destroy the pump.

If you don't mind me asking......approximately how many horsepower would you guess it putting out?
Is it turbocharged?
What tractor is it in?
Thanks

Any chance it's a 175 or 180 MF? Dad's 180 when cranked clear up years ago had about 82 PTO for pulling, and smoked HEAVY. Also have a neighbor's 180 set at 70 and it's not as bad, but will smoke under heavy load. He does not use it hard so it's fine like it is. When done with pulling dad's was set back to 63 on the dyno..

If it is a non turbo and not blowing black smoke, I would not worry about it. If it is getting too warm maybe you have a cooling issue.
