Anyone ever stripped the splines on a pressure plate?? I had it all apart trying to figure out whats up but everything seems fine. Any ideas. I will pull the pumps and inspect before I start the engine again. Thanks for looking.

Hi, although rare this problem is not uncommon. It may be down to a clutch plate with worn splines being relined with
no account taken of the spline condition. When there is wear on the plate and shaft a new plate will normally cure the
problem but of course the complete answer is to replace both.

UPDATE on the stripped splines.

After taking it back to the clutch shop the guy there said he put the wrong hub on the clutch cover. I am way to trusting sometimes. He did fix it for me by noon the next day and I found some other stuff was messed up in the meantime. The last guy that worked on it 20 some years ago didn't have a clue! The plate on the back of the planetary was clocked wrong on the transmission. That caused the idler gear washers to get punished. One was in pieces in the bottom of the sump. Also, one of the bushings on the big gear in between the plates on the geartrain to the aux. pump was missing the outside edge. All from being in a bind.

New problem now. The IPTO does not have any pressure at the test port. I think this is from oil escaping from the IPTO clutch pack through little holes on the outside of the housing. I haven't had that apart yet but am guessing that shouldn't be happening. It spins but takes a while to engage and stops quick. I might be getting a little air in there from still having the dipstick plate off of the side. Oil is up to the lowest bolt hole but the oil is not foaming. The lift arms are working and the aux ports have 2200 psi. and blow the relief valve. Im not sure about the multipower. I havent ran it long.

Any thoughts?
