2705 M F Transmission

1980 2705 24 speed transmission. Helping a friend trying to determine why this tractor will barely move in reverse and would not go up the ramps when trying to load it on a trailer (engine has plenty of power). We disconnected the linkage and fully engaged the gears but it didn't make a difference. Looking for some options before splitting the tractor.

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE AN O RING PROBLEM IN THE POWERSHIFT UNIT YOU NEED TO HOOKUP PRESSURE GUAGES TO TEST PRESSURES AND THEN YOU CAN GO FROM THERE.

Xs2 what Ward said, probably lost the seals to lock the low clutch for forward/reverse use. Usually will burn both the low and intermediate discs when both are trying to apply at once when the seals fail, at least that's what I've seen in the past..

RE; 2705 MF transmission

Hi,
We split the tractor, replaced some O rings, the tractor currently moves forward o.k. but in reverse barely moves in higher speeds. Is there a chance that I could call you to discuss some additional options?

Usually when the o-rings go some of the cluch packs get burned out to.

Anyone have a detailed list or pictures of the procedure for taking apart and splitting tractor and then what else all has to be removed to get to the o rings & clutch packs? I have a 1980 Massey 2705 which I believe is in need of the same fix

Can anyone give me the name or number of a company who can get the clutch packs and powershift parts for the 2705 24 speed. Here is Wisconsin all the massey dealers are telling me there no longer available. I have to start cutting hay in a few weeks and am hoping to rebuild my powershift by then
