Putting new seals in a PS unit, Reading in IT shop manual MF10, page 10 par. 19 Worm, rack, sector gear are lubed by 90ep oil in gear housing. Looked in the Ops manual page 24. steering housing oil- use 90ep on tractors with PS, fill 1/2 inch below plug. I assumed the whole PS unit ran off the hyd oil, but the way I read this I should put 90w in the plug on top of the unit when I put it back in, am I reading this correct?

If it's a factory PS, then they came with 10W non detergent oil. Some will use universal hydraulic oil in them.

I know what your saying and that the tractor hyd is running the pistons for steering, but the way I am reading is that there are two separate chambers and that the worm and rack , sector are in their chamber in 90w like a manual steering box and there is a 1/2 inch plug on top of the unit over the worm and rack. What I drained out was not 90w but someone has worked on this before, this is my only one with PS and just want to make sure I get it right
