MF265 Auxillary Pump

I am installing sparex pump S.40874 1686766m91 on a 265, this is the replacement pump they use today on all the 100 and 200 series tractors for an auxiliary pump. The pump is hard to turn, I can only turn it with a pair of plyers on an old gear I put on the pump shaft. I have soaked it in UT oil no real difference. Is this pump bad or is this normal. Thanks Bill

On new, or rebuilt hydraulic pumps they are usually a little hard to turn by hand when new. Once it gets run, and the new parts wear in a little bit (like a new engine) it will turn easier.

Hi, just to add a little to the above; the tightness is caused by the compression of the sealing rings on the 'figure
8' blocks inside wgich in turn presses on the gears.. It is this tightness which ensures that the pump will operate at
maximum efficiency. Yes, it will certainly loosen up a little after use. If you have a pump that is completely easy to
turn then you are likely to have problems.
